Why you should visit Maiori

The atmosphere in Maiori is not that of an ancient and small seaside village, but of a real town, in fact it is the largest city on the Amalfi Coast. Its large sandy beach, about 1 km long, represents one of the main reasons to visit Maiori during the summer season. In fact, being very well equipped with beach clubs, restaurants, bars and shops, Maiori is considered a perfect tourist destination for families with children.

Among the things to see in Maiori there are: the famous Saracen watchtower, part of the ancient system of towers placed to defend the city, the Mezzacapo castle (also known as Miramare) built at the end of the 19th century by the Marquis Mezzacapo inspired by a castle he visited on the banks of the Loire, in France, the Castle of San Nicola de Thoro Plano, dating back to the times of the Amalfi Maritime Republic, also used as a fortification and used as a refuge for the protection of the local inhabitants from the incursions of the Lombards and Saracens.

Furthermore, among the things to do in Maiori we recommend a visit to the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria a Mare, with its characteristic majolica dome, and a boat excursion to the Pandora's Cave, a sea cave that can only be reached by sea.

For many years Maiori has also become the ideal place for trekking and nature lovers, in fact in the upper part of the city, where terraces are predominant, the famous lemon groves arise.

These follow one another among breathtaking views and the sound of the sea, so much so as to create a nature trail of great importance: the Sentiero dei Limoni.

Therefore, by visiting Minori you will still be able to find the traditional lemon growers of the Amalfi Coast who transport, on the back of a mule, very heavy crates of Sfusato Amalfi lemons, used for the production of the delicious limoncello.
