Salerno can be easily reached by train from the stations of Napoli Centrale or Napoli Afragola.

From the Napoli Centrale station, you can take a regional, intercity or high-speed train and the journey time ranges from about 30 minutes for the high-speed to about 60 minutes for the regional train. Tickets for regional trains to Salerno cost about € 5.00, while high-speed trains cost slightly more.

From Napoli Afragola station, instead, high-speed trains travel between Naples and Salerno in about 30 minutes.

Salerno can be reached by SITA bus from Naples.

From Naples, SITA buses to Salerno leave from Varco Immacolatella, close to the port. Varco Immacolatella can be reached by metro from the central train station, getting off at the "Università" station, or on foot (about 2 km).

Alternatively, it is possible to take the SITA bus to Salerno by the highway from the Ramada hotel at the Naples via G.Ferraris bus stop.

Generally, from April to October, the main towns on the Amalfi Coast are connected to Salerno by sea connections, i.e. ferries and hydrofoils.

Ferries from Salerno mainly depart/arrive from Molo Masuccio Salernitano (Piazza della Concordia), not far from the train station, and can reach the following towns: Positano, Amalfi, Maiori, Minori, Cetara and Vietri sul Mare.

There are also runs from Molo Manfredi, but these are much less frequent.

The Amalfi Coast can be reached by bus from Salerno, and the company operating the service is SITA.

The SITA buses travel through most of the towns on the Amalfi Coast one by one, in fact, leaving from Salerno it is possible to reach the following towns by bus: Vietri sul Mare, Cetara, Erchie, Maiori, Minori and Amalfi.

On the other hand, it is possible to reach Sorrento by SITA bus from Amalfi, passing through the following towns: Conca dei Marini, Praiano, Positano, Meta and Sant'Agata.

SITA bus departure points:

• From Salerno station, you can take the SITA bus to Amalfi from the stop in Via Vinciprova or from the stop at Corso Garibaldi a few metres from the train station.

• The SITA bus departure point in Amalfi is in Piazza Flavio Gioia.

Tickets can only be purchased on site at tobacconists or newsagents and must be validated on the train.

If you have chosen to take a SITA bus from Salerno station to the Amalfi Coast, sit on the left-hand side to admire the view! From Salerno, it takes about 45 minutes to reach Amalfi by bus. However, as the road is full of bends, we would recommend taking the right precautions if you suffer from bus sickness.

In the months of July and August and during the summer holidays, the SS163 road that connects Salerno to the main towns along the Amalfi Coast could be really busy, and no matter how breathtaking the scenery from the car window may be, it may never be a pleasant experience. On the other hand, driving along the Amalfi Coast by car is the best way to explore the coast, stopping where and for as long as you want at the most panoramic spots. However, if you are not used to driving on narrow roads, the best option is to use the public bus and ferry services.

For travellers coming from Salerno, the Amalfi Coast can be reached by exiting the A3 motorway at Vietri sul Mare and from there taking the SS163 Amalfitana.
