Parco Pinocchio in Salerno
The Pinocchio Park is the second largest urban park in Salerno, with an area spanning approximately 40,000 m². This park is known for the presence of a bronze statue of Pinocchio, created by the artist Antonio Petti.
The main entrance of the park is characterized by a monumental fountain, a wisteria pergola, palm trees, and an artistic lighting system that enhances the enchanting atmosphere. This welcoming entrance invites visitors to explore the natural beauty of the park.
Pinocchio Park, also known as "Terme Campione," is an area equipped with playgrounds for children. At the center of the park is a large amphitheater, located in the heart of a green oasis, which hosts events and activities dedicated to young children. Additionally, a small square with a fountain has been created, where families can relax and enjoy the surrounding greenery.
Il Parco dell'Irno
The Irno Park is located along the banks of the river of the same name, on Lungoirno street, and is directly connected to the Pinocchio Park area. This wonderful green lung of Salerno spans an area of 35,000 square meters, where a brick factory once stood.
The establishment of the park has allowed for the restoration of the old mill, the oven, and the chimney of the ancient factory. These historical elements have been harmoniously integrated into the park's new purpose, creating recreational and gathering spaces of particular interest.
The mill, completely restored, retains the architecture of its ancient function. Inside, guests can find spaces for events and exhibitions, as well as areas dedicated to activities for teenagers and children. Additionally, the park also offers spaces for indoor sports activities, such as ice skating.
From a botanical perspective, Irno Park is distinguished by its 7 thematic gardens, each dedicated to different botanical species. These gardens are surrounded by ornamental and fragrant climbing plants, creating an enchanting atmosphere. Here are the gardens you can explore:
Garden of the Centenarians
Garden of Medicinal Plants
